Become a Transformative Activist!
A transformation of consciousness throughout our society is the absolute prerequisite for making social, economic, and political transformation.
Whether you are a student, raising children, working full-time (and then some), unemployed, retired, or house-bound, YOU can become an activist for social healing and transformation. If you are already engaged in social activism, we will help you become more effective in your efforts.
We invite you to come to our training, Jan. 17-20 (Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend), in Berkeley, California.
Though we are offering this training for a super-low cost for a 3.5 day event, nevertheless if it costs more than you can afford, DO NOT LET THAT BE A FACTOR. We understand that you may have costs to get to Berkeley, Ca. and to find a place to stay, so we are fine with reducing the fee to whatever you can afford (including ZERO)–all you have to do is say so by sending an email to RabbiLerner.Tikkun@gmail.com and telling him what you can afford! But check to see the cost first by going to the registration page.

There are an overwhelming number of issues on which Republicans and Democrats alike have failed to take action, and the progressive left has been ineffective in getting their concerns addressed. So we are building a grassroots rebellion against the Tea Party and those in both major political parties who have capitulated to the logic of serving the 1% at the expense of everyone else.
Are you upset that our economic and political systems are colluding in:
*The accelerating destruction of the environment?
*Unemployment, poverty (both domestic and global), hunger, homelessness, inadequate wages, the destruction of the middle class?
*The growing selfishness, materialism, and “looking out for number one” consciousness that seems to pervade every aspect of daily life, from our work world to our personal friendships, love and family life?
Are you dismayed that:
*Democratic, as well as liberal and progressive forces, have failed to offer an effective counter-strategy to the Tea Party?
*Reactionary forces have already normalized drastic cuts to social services in political discourse?
*The top 1% shape the mainstream policies of both major parties?
*Progressive organizations and movements only hear progressives’ complaints about existing policies, but fail to work together to articulate shared values that could help outsiders understand the fundamental positive vision they are striving for?
Do You Feel Powerless to Change All This and Yet Desperately Want To?
We can train you to be a Transformative Activist. We have started building a movement to fundamentally transform our society and nonviolently challenge global capitalism. You are welcome to join our movement; you are able to become part of the change.

Who are we? Tikkun Magazine’s Network of Spiritual Progressives (NSP)–
The NSP, founded by Rabbi Michael Lerner with co-chairs Cornel West and Benedictine Sister Joan Chittister, is now co-chaired by Lerner and Baptist Pastor J. Alfred Smith, Sr. The NSP is not only for spiritual or religious people, but is for anyone who seeks to replace the globalization of selfishness, materialism, and “looking out for number one” with the globalization of generosity, environmental sanity and genuine caring for all.
Tikkun is a magazine that has been on the cutting edge of social, political and spiritual issues since 1986 putting forth concrete proposals for how to transform our world. Though originally a voice of progressive Jews and the place in which one could hear the voices of those in Israel who critiqued Israeli policy toward Palestinians, Tikkun has evolved to become the voice of all those who believe in a New Bottom Line of love and generosity, including secular humanists, orthodox atheists, and religious progressives from every religious or spiritual tradition. About the Trainers:
Rabbi Michael Lerner is editor of Tikkun magazine www.tikkun.org, co-chair of the interfaith and Secular-Humanist-welcoming Network of Spiritual Progressives www.spiritualprogressives.org and author of 11 books, including, Spirit Matters, The Politics of Meaning, The Left Hand of God: Taking Back our Country from the Religious Right, and most recently, Embracing Israel/Palestine. The way he has integrated psychology, spirituality and non-violence into his social change activism for decades as Director of the Institute of Labor and Mental Health recently led Congressman Keith Ellison (D. -Minn.), chair of the 80-member Progressive Caucus of the U.S. House of Representatives, to write that “Rabbi Michael Lerner is one of America’s most significant progressive intellectuals and political leaders.
