Rabbi Lerner speaks on “The Spiritual Transformation and Healing of the World: Building a Spiritually Progressive
Seattle Nov. 19 (Tuesday) at 7 PM: Rabbi Lerner speaks on “The Non-Violent Overthrow of Global Materialism and Selfishness: A Path to Peace, Environmental Sanity, and Social Justice.”
Location:Queen Anne United Methodist Church, 1605 5th Ave. West, Seattle, Washington.
Rabbi Lerner will address the following question: When the Tea Party conservatives manage to take over the Republican Party in order to defund government and dismantle the programs that protect the poor and the most powerless elements of this society, and the Democrats seem unable to put forward a positive alternative vision, much less to develop a program capable of saving the environment and reversing the political and economic policies and corporate behaviors that have put the earth in danger, and the president seems mired in half-measures and ambivalence, what can the rest of us, ordinary Americans, do to protect our country from its collapse into the hands of right-wing extremists?
Rabbi Lerner will share his vision on how to build a spiritually progressive political movement so we can move American politics from a perspective that hurts the poor and middle class — and undermines the rights and protections won by women, gays, and minorities — toward a perspective that builds love, generosity, and corporate environmental and social responsibility.
